I know January is almost over, so New Year's Resolutions are already a thing of the past. That's okay with me, I actually don't have much in the way of a Resolution this year. Last year's intentional and focused shift from busyness to awareness, was a huge resolution, not a simple 365 day project but part of my continuing life journey. I made great strides in no longer living by events and activities, but there is more to learn, more to change, more room to grow in that area. However this is no longer the season for such focused self re-structuring. I'm honestly just not up to delving into a huge paradigm shift. My focus for 2013 needs to be much simpler. I need my small steps and little bits of progress. While I could easily write up my standard 12 goals/projects for the year, I'm feeling like that may even be too much for me.
In 6 to 10 weeks our newest family member will join us. Adding another life to this world while maintaining consistent loving care for my 2 year old, 4 year old and husband seems like a pretty big job all by itself. At the moment it feels so big and all encompassing I don't know how I'll do anything else. But there is always more.
Over the past year our life has changed dramatically. Our earning, spending, saving ratios are very different then what we had been previously accustomed to. While I've always thought of myself as thrifty (why spend money you don't need to spend) we are now at a place in life where we are frugal by necessity (very limited funds). For the first time we are counting on this year's garden to feed our family instead of gardening as a fun organic hobby that may or may not produce much of anything.
So in 2013 I have two simple things to focus on
1. Welcome a precious little baby into our family
2. Feed our family from our land
(realizing that I am not attempting 100% self sufficiency, just a break in the budget)
There is a lot of prep work ahead over the next several weeks for the baby and over the next couple months for planting. I am very excited about all of the big and little things that I want/need to do to get ready and just a tiny bit overwhelmed. God doesn't make mistakes and He's never given me anything I can't handle with His help, so I get to enjoy the fun of it all (taking out the baby clothes, decorating the new nursery, planning meals, starting seedlings, picking out vegetables and fruits to plant, etc) and not stress to much about any hiccups I may encounter.
I'm linking up to nourishing resolutions carnival
