Body Love. Food.

We received a wonderful gift from a friend the other day, 16 pounds of organic apples! Just like with sewing I have a season of canning food, from October through the end of winter (and just after Easter if I can get a good deal on closeout organic ham), and the season has begun. Today I happen to have an eager two year old as my helper. He helped me wash the apples and after I cut them he then transferred them into the crockpot, where I was turning them into apple butter. This is the first time in the last few years that I am making real apple butter, not trying to make a low sugar, alternate version. I am using raw honey. Really. I am embracing the idea that my body is wise and strong and will actually tell me when I’ve had enough of something, as long as I listen to it. I am working on not being fearful of foods, any foods. So real traditional apple butter is back on the menu.

October 26: Today I embrace foods that nourish my body and my soul, empowering myself to be the authority on me and not a set of rules.

Frugal Self-Care today: Lighting a candle during some me time.
