Body Love. Awe.
This wonderful body of mine has been the most requested and desired bed in my home for nearly seven years. Its popularity and desirability has more to do with the Momma love than with its size or shape, but this is one area where extra curves come in handy. There are times when I am impatient to get the sleeping babe out of my arms so I can go about “getting stuff done”. But my youngest is two and a half. In the not too distant future he won’t want to snuggle with Momma and snooze. Most of the time I recognize that and settle in to some quite reading, while watching my little guy peacefully breathe in and out. I stare at his face and marvel how he reflects myself and my husband in his features. That love and amazement is something I like to look to when I am being less than kind to myself. How could I belittle the body that grew these miraculous babies in my care and of my flesh? When I look at my boys and see how awesome they are right down to small feet and sticky fingers it is easy for me to extend that awe to my own body, right now just as it is. I am all the better for having these little loves in my life, and so is my body even with every “extra” curve.
October 18: Today I allow my awe and wonder at God’s creations to encompass every little part of my body.
Frugal Self-Care Today: Yoga in bed. I have a great DVD that offers a bedtime and morning time yoga routine done while in bed. I love it.
"You alone created my inner being. You knitted me together inside my mother. I will give thanks to you because I have been so amazingly and miraculously made. Your works are miraculous, and my soul is fully aware of this." Psalms 139:13-14 (GW)
