Body Love. Play.

Another beautiful day, another chance to play in the sunshine. I enjoy playing with my children (not constantly entertaining them but just playing). I started this morning’s playground trip with the idea of letting my two year old play while I read a bit. But after a page or two I just wanted to run with my youngster. We had some epic peek-a-boo sessions, sang a favorite song from our Music Together class, and even planted a “Wall-E plant” (a small oak sapling that someone left lying around, my two year old is really into Wall-E right now). We were having a great time.

Body Love? Feet.

Feet! These feet are mine. They are wonderful. God has created something truly amazing with our very unique feet. I am especially fond of my own feet. Today these feet have kicked a soccer ball, danced a few different times with kids, walked miles and miles (according to my pedometer), skipped with kids, dashed to meetings, controlled the clutch, brake and gas on our car, and were even kicked up on the couch for a little down time.  So when I have a day where I may not see my whole as purely wonderful, I can at least marvel at my feet.

Body Love? Eyes of Love.

Today marked the second day of school cancelations due to flooded roads. While I enjoyed having the extra helpers on my baking day, we have felt a little cooped up! After my two year old woke up from his nap I loaded up the double stroller and went to a local walking trail that happens to meander through a playground. The walk was just what I needed and the playground was just what my children needed. As we were out walking the sun peeked through the clouds! It felt so good. My six year old offered to take my picture today. After every single shot he grinned up at me and said oh this one is really good Mommy, you look very pretty.

Body Love? Braver.

In only a few days I have become braver. Bolder. Ready to dare. Of course with a small anonymous audience it is perhaps easier to be a little more risky. In between downpours there have been a few pockets of light rain and even just some moments of drizzling. I took advantage of the opportunity to get in a brisk workout and a few stretches. Honestly I don’t usually workout in a sport top, I am usually in a loose tee or a modest tank top, but like I said, I am a little braver.

Body Love? Comparison Struggles.

Sunday, a day of community and rejuvenation. With the “hurricane” turning out to be just bad weather, my children and I ventured out to church today. I love the feeling of so many individuals connecting with God in the same time and place. The sermon was beautiful, my six year old son sang in the jubilation choir, and my Sunday school class had a wonderful lesson on prayer. In general I love going to church. But in all honesty (which is what this body love stuff is all about right?) I struggle with comparison at church more than anywhere else.
