Body Love? Eyes of Love.

Today marked the second day of school cancelations due to flooded roads. While I enjoyed having the extra helpers on my baking day, we have felt a little cooped up! After my two year old woke up from his nap I loaded up the double stroller and went to a local walking trail that happens to meander through a playground. The walk was just what I needed and the playground was just what my children needed. As we were out walking the sun peeked through the clouds! It felt so good. My six year old offered to take my picture today. After every single shot he grinned up at me and said oh this one is really good Mommy, you look very pretty.

Buuurd

One of the sweetest parts of bird raising is seeing my children love on them. My toddler, still clumsy with words, and quick on his feet, drops everything when one of our baby chicks comes out. Buuuurd! He exclaims with absolute joy on his face. With big bright happy eyes he points at the baby chick and repeats his word, delighted at being able to name the animal correctly and being able to pet the feathered friend with the most gentle touches any 19 month old could ever muster.

Airborne and Special Operations Museum

We had Vacation Bible School this week, so we were on the go! Our VBS takes place in the evening ending pretty late for out little guys, by the time I was done with my volunteer duties it was usually between 8:45 and 9pm, by the time we got home in was nearly 9:30! Needless to say our morning activities were pretty easy going this week:

"Massage" Shirt and High Five Card- Father's Day Gifts

This week was a bit of a struggle, at least for completing daily educational activities. The morning activity concept was kind of swept away due to Papa's funky work schedule, Papa was home in the morning and gone until way after the kids were in bed.  Fortunately we are a highly adaptable crew so we still accomplished at least one activity everyday:

Bathtub Watercolor Art

I have completed my second week of attempting to be an organized stay at home Momma! Here is what we did for structured (mostly) morning activities:

Monday-  Strawberry picking and preserving (following directions, our connection to nature and our food)

Tuesday- Bounce House play date at church (socializing, rules, physical activity)

Wednesday- Bathtub Watercolor Art (3 year old; colors, shapes, following directions, creative expression, 16 month old; don't eat the paint)

Thursday- Finger Painting and Hand Print Cards (3 year old; colors, shapes, consideration for others,  16 month old; textures, affecting his environment, not to eat paint)

Friday- Visited the farm with Grammy and learned about rabbits (3 year old; will follow up with library books, making a rabbit house, and planning for rabbits in the fall, 16 month old... well he still calls the rabbits doggies and pants at them, but he enjoyed the farm)

This week's How To (or rather, what we did and can improve on): Bathtub Watercolor Art
