Water and Paper Sensory Play

It was a hot week. It is still hot. At this moment my husband is blowing up an air mattress so we can sleep downstairs, because upstairs is just too hot. Our 2nd floor AC went out today. Despite the heat we spent a lot of time outside this week, of course we were almost always doing something with water when we were outside:

Monday- Musical Instruments (xylophone, tambourine, bells, drums, whistles, lots of fun!)

Tuesday- Sprinkler Play date 

Wednesday- Library Story Time  

Thursday-Water and Paper Sensory Play

Friday- Water Balloons (3 year old; he would throw them at us, 17 month old; squeezed them until they popped and splashed water all over himself, which is probably a better way to stay cool in this heat)

"Massage" Shirt and High Five Card- Father's Day Gifts

This week was a bit of a struggle, at least for completing daily educational activities. The morning activity concept was kind of swept away due to Papa's funky work schedule, Papa was home in the morning and gone until way after the kids were in bed.  Fortunately we are a highly adaptable crew so we still accomplished at least one activity everyday:

Texture Floor Squares

As my role in my children's life is evolving; going from full time working Mom to stay at home Mom and my children's lives are being reshaped; going from church preschool 3 days a week to stay at home kids, I have decided that I need the structure of having some kind of morning activity each weekday and my boys seem to like it as well. Valentine Jars

For Valentine’s Day my children’s preschool has everyone decorate boxes for receiving the little Valentine cards. They give out little awards for most creative, best use of hearts, best done by yourself, and whatever other categories they may have. We just returned from our church youth ski trip and we were all tired, just plain beat, but I knew we still needed to throw together a couple of boxes (never mind winning awards).
