Meal Plan June 2013 week 4

Ready for the easiest meal plan possible and extremely kid friendly? This is it. In my quest for  developing a solid summer routine I am taking arguments out of dinner and doing a kids' request week. I am also slipping a snack into my kids' room before I go to bed that they can help themselves to first thing in the morning. The key here is doing it on their own, so I can get the baby nursed, the puppy feed, and the chickens all set. Yes chickens! We are once again the proud owners of a little backyard flock. I am so excited, I am starting to feel like I have a mini farm.

Meal Plan ~ June 2013 week 3

I was just looking over last week's menu and realized that I was spot on Monday -Wednesday, but then Thursday -Sunday just became a jumbled mess of leftovers, ordering pizza, crazy schedules, house guests and a new addition to the family. We welcomed a puppy into our home this week. In some ways it was rather sudden, although we had promised our boys that we would get a dog once our backyard was fenced in (and it has been for a few weeks now), but everything seemed to line up and point to this time as being the ideal time to get a dog. For now she is on the puppy chow she came with but I will eventually be adding her diet to the meal plan as we transition her onto a real food, mostly raw diet.

Meal Plan ~ June 2013 week 2

I am making a couple of meals from scratch this week as well as using up my freezer foods. I am trying to add a few meals back into my schedule so I can ease back into a full kitchen routine. Plus this gives us a chance to appreciate having seafood casserole (or any other prepared meal) rather than feeling like we just had that. Am I the only one who feels that way?

Meal Plan ~ June 2013 week 1

Even though I have spent more time outside than inside over the last few weeks I have still found a little bit of time to play in the kitchen. I made our first homemade ice cream of the season on Memorial Day, bought our first watermelon, and have been having a lot of fun playing around with various custard/clafoutis/flaungarde recipes. I am still pulling from our freezer stock-pile and am so happy to have it. My little guy still needs lots of nursing time and snuggles, while my big guys want plenty of attention as well. It is nice to be able to give them what they need without sacrificing a nourishing family meal!

Meal Plan ~ May 2013 week 3

The past two weeks were a whirlwind of traveling, visiting with family, a sick baby, a hospital stay and more traveling. I am so happy to be home, working on our garden and enjoying family time with my husband who has some much deserved time off. We still have some doctor visits to try and figure out the health of our little baby this week, so I am primarily using up our freezer stock pile. It gives me one less thing to worry about.
